Lake Lyell Recreation Park is a great spot for dog-friendly camping. Situated on the outskirts of Lithgow approximately 2 and a half hours from Sydney, this popular area is utilised to fish, water ski, camp, 4WD, swim, canoe, kayak, picnic and jet ski. The campground offers a large grassy area for camping, with some sites located right on the water’s edge, perfect for caravans and powered sites.
Lake Lyell Recreation Park features a high-quality boat ramp and a jetty, making it easy to launch and load boats. The lake is popular for water skiing and fishing and can get quite busy during peak times, However, if you visit during the off-season, you can get a prime spot with a view of the lake.
The campground also offers amenities such as a children’s playground, hot showers (20 cents per minute), picnic tables, flushing toilets, and a shop/kiosk. The shop carries basic necessities and also offers fishing and skiing gear, as well as hot food.
Dogs are allowed in the campground, but it’s recommended to check in with the campsite prior to your arrival to ensure that your furry friend is welcomed.
